River Conservation

RiverWebs shares some of the unseen beauty and diversity of river ecosystems, and examines two of the most serious threats facing them: habitat destruction and invasive species. Unfortunately, rivers around the world face numerous threats, and are slipping through the cracks of conservation. RIVERS NEED YOUR HELP!

Be more river-conscious

• Recognize that healthy rivers need healthy riparian forests, and that channelization, deforestation, and levies can sever connections between rivers and forests
• Recognize that introduced sportfish species can impact native species through hybridization, predation, and competition. Learn about introduced and invasive species in your local rivers

Get involved!

• Join your local watershed group or aquatic conservation group, such as a Trout Unlimited chapter, and get involved in protecting and restoring the waters in your own backyard!
